Great & delicious Mediterranean food.
From the grilled chicken & jasmine rice, to the humus dip with pita bread.
Everything was beautifully prepared & delivered by friendly service.
They allowed us to bring in a birthday cake.
We will definitely return. -

Turquoise Grill is a Turkish restaurant in Sugar Land Town Square. All of their food, sans the alcohol, is Halal; which, believe you me, confuses my conservative Muslim parents. I visited Turquoise Grill on a Tuesday evening for Iftar- when Muslims break their fasts at sunset during Ramadan. The restaurant was surprisingly empty, with only a few patrons sitting outside at the bar window. We were immediately seated and greeted by our waiter, who may have been the worst part of our experience. Don't get me wrong, the guy was nice and conversational; however, he lacked some fundamental knowledge about the food and services that the restaurant provides. When I presented him a Yelp coupon, he flagged one of his co-workers because he wasn't sure what to do with it. At the end of the meal, he included the item on my friend's ticket, which he promptly removed when we pointed it out to him. Basically, he just needs some more training. Otherwise, our meal was great! So onward to the good stuff.
Like I said, I came for Iftar and was pleasantly surprised that they have a special Ramadan menu in the evenings. We're talking fresh dates with kalamata olives as a starter, then access to the salad bar, an appetizer, and soup of the day, followed by your choice of entree, and lastly dessert. When we went, the salad bar was closed so instead I was served a plate of hummus, dolmas, falafel, fresh veg, and a squirt of tahini on the side. This opening plate set the tone for the rest of the meal. And that tone was a fresh gustatory delight. Their hummus is creamy, but thick. It has that homemade quality to it. Most restaurants pulverize the chickpeas until the hummus is completely smooth, not here! A very appreciated texture. The grape leaves for the dolmas were so tender they basically dissolved on my tongue, not distracting from the rich rice and pine nut mixture with the perfect level of acidity. For me, the star was the falafel. Not dry or powdery when you take a bite; it reminded me more of an Indian pakoda because it was so moist, minus the chunks of onion and serrano peppers. I dunked everything in the tahini- 10/10 recommend doing the same. Next came the Mercimek, their version of lentil soup, serving you slow-cooked realness. Warming spices and hardy grains did my body wonders. It would be perfect for a cold, rainy day with some crusty bread to sop up the well-spiced broth.
For the entree, I ordered the Pan Seared Swai Fillet & Shrimp on Pasta. There was no pasta on my plate; instead it was their long grain rice that clearly had been shown some love with butter. I wasn't mad about it. A healthy portion of fish, three grilled shrimps, green beans, carrots, and squash all slathered in an herbaceous, creamy sauce. I was full about 2/3 of the way through this plate; however, I cleaned that plate completely because it was SO good.
Huge shout out to the owner who came by to check on us a handful of times and made sure that the food rolled out in time for me to break my fast. He even complimented my eating pace, which if you've ever eaten with me is hilarious because I may be the slowest eater ever. But hey, I'll take it. He finished our meal by bringing out 4 pieces of baklava, one for each of us. Fun fact, they make it in house and you can tell. The phyllo is so flaky, with sweetness from what I assume is honey, encasing perfectly tender pistachios. The ideal way to close our meal. -

As always this place does not disappoint.
The lamb chops are cooked to perfection and the Greek wines are so refreshingly different.
Great musician entertainment. -

First let me say we did enjoy Turquoise, nothing was bad it's just nothing was fabulous either. We had the meat mixed platter. It was very tasty and had good vegetables and rice served with it. The chipotle hummus was also good but they don't give you enough chips to go with. The bread is very good. Service was good and the atmosphere is more casual and relaxed with is nice. Again a good place just nothing stood out as great.

Have always wanted to try this place and just was able to. I have to only give it three stars as we were almost the only table there, the falafel was a little too done and the rice is too sticky. Other than that the rest of our meal was very good. The chicken kabobs were very flavorful and they do their veggies well. Do wish their dinner menu was a little bit bigger. The appetizer we had was great for everyone to try a little bit of everything. Might be back, but for sure not a must come back to place.
